Day 284 - Bumblebee

She's precious,
Like a bumblebee,
Soft and cute,
On the exterior you see,
Angry and wild,
When she needs to be.

She'll kiss your cheek,
And hold you tight,
Just watch out,
If there's a fight,
If she disagrees,
She'll sting until she's right.

Day 279 - A Prayer

This is a prayer for you and me,
Health and happiness,
A long life living out our dreams.
Please let us be together,
In each others arms,
Hearts smiling forever.

Day 278 - We

She's got her new boots on,
She's walking in the sun,
Saying "hey everyone,
Take a look at me."

Streets filled with peeps,
Most she'd like to meet,
Some she'd like to beat,
She just leaves them be.

If she had wings to fly,
She'd be soaring up high,
Drawing hearts in the sky,
For everyone to see.

She's my little lover,
My future children's mother,
I do nothing but love her,
Missing us as we.

Day 275 - Under the Stars

Tonight I saw songwriters perform under the stars,
Violin strings danced in the cool Autumn air,
Black and white keys rolled along with the beat,
The upright bass kept thumping away,
Cello players forced their bows to gently sway.
It was melodic, rhythmic and gentle on the ears,
So, I laid back in the grass and took it all in,
All the sounds, the notes, the moment created there,
Then just like my breath, I watched it all disappear.

Day 274 - Dreams

I'm loaded down with dreams,
They weigh heavy on my mind.
So many lining my memory,
They leave me standing still,
Afraid to breath.

I know which road I should go down,
The one that leads to happiness found,
Not the one that leaves me crying on the ground.
I must take a leap of faith,
Even if I land face down.

Day 273 - Go There

There's a voice,
It whispers,
Every night in my ear,
Go there,
Get away from here,
Be happy,
For the rest of your years.

Day 264 - The Picture

Buried not so deep, in the back of my mind,
I see a picture,
It's vibrant, filled with deep greens and blues.
There are clouds rolling by,
An Autumn day, no leaves on the tress.
The slightest hint of sun pokes through,
A canvas of sky hugging the hillside.
A dark haired girl stands alone,
Her petite frame and cinnamon skin,
They draw my attention in.
I look deep in her eyes,
And my inquisitive nature kicks in,
Are tears about to be shed?
Will they be happy or sad?
As I stare longingly in to her despair,
She appears to be waiting,
Maybe for a long lost love,
A man she gave her whole heart to,
But has yet to receive his in return.
Perhaps the love of her life,
He just passed away,
Leaving behind heartbreak,
As she stands by his grave.
Then I notice a hint of a smile,
The slight upturn of her red lips,
She is in a moment of pure happiness and bliss.
I am sure now,
Her man is just outside the frame,
Painted outside the lines,
He's down on his knees,
Asking for her hand in forever,
And that would surely make any girl cry.

Day 263 - Under the Tree

Life has interrupted my daily devotions, but I will be posting each weekend and as time allows during the week. My baby's life in Ireland has provide some renewed inspiration.

Under the Tree

Let's sit under your favorite tree,
We can watch the clouds roll by,
And listen as birds try to speak.

The green grass underneath our feet,
May tickle the backs of our knees,
Making you laugh, oh so sweet.

I know you will have stories to tell,
So, I'll sit and hold you tight,
Enjoying every word you have to sell.

I'll lean in to kiss your soft lips,
Each time you stop to take a breath,
Caressing your cheek with my fingertips.

Perhaps we will pack up some treats,
Some fruits, and crackers with cheese,
Feeding each other, savoring our peace.

We may end up falling asleep in the afternoon,
Your pretty head resting on my shoulder bone,
Waking up only by the light of the moon.

As we sit and follow each shooting star,
We will wish for a life full of happiness,
And never to be separated again this far.

Maybe when we are wiser and grey,
We can come back and sit down for awhile,
Reliving our love story, as the old branches sway.

Day 257 - The Finish

I can see it from here,
It's in my sights,
Narrow and white.
My mind is already there,
Celebrating victory,
Re-writing history.
Bang, goes the gun,
False start,
Back to square one.
We're off again,going hard,
Tripped up,
Opportunities marred.
I just can't seem,
To get it right,
A losing fight.
I'll cross it one day,
It's meant to be,
But that line still taunts me.

Day 256 - Others

Our love's not ordinary,
It's extraordinary,
Holding on from afar.

It;s strong like a metal,
Or a single rose petal,
Which refuses to fall.

Many may see us a ruse,
Like we have to prove,
This love we have is real.

Well I say to them,
Take a look at us again,
Turn your head and walk away.
